Lung cancer

More than 25 percent of patients with lung cancer will notice no particular symptoms of the disease until after their diagnosis. Knowing the symptoms of lung cancer can increase your chances of an early diagnosis and more effective treatment.
Primary lung cancer
Primary lung cancer is any cancer that starts directly in the lungs. Having repeated cases of bronchitis and other respiratory infections may be one of the early signals that you could have lung cancer. Being unable to catch your breath is also a symptom many patients experience. While not everyone experiences this problem, you could also have a dull, aching chest pain that indicates lung cancer. Finally, coughing up blood is a more obvious symptom of primary lung cancer.
Metastatic lung cancer
If you have metastatic lung cancer, you experience other symptoms of the disease throughout your body as the cancer moves from the lungs to other locations. Skin rashes are a common initial symptom of metastatic lung cancer. You may experience bone pain, which is a sign that the cancer has spread from your lungs into your bones. Sudden seizures can also signal that the cancer has spread from your lungs to your brain, which is also commonly shown by an increased weakness on one side of the body.
Lung cancer is often diagnosed through a chest x-ray that was ordered for a different issue. The symptoms of lung cancer are fairly similar to the symptoms of a variety of respiratory illnesses, which can make it difficult to diagnose. If you are experiencing a multitude of symptoms, such as coughing up blood and wheezing, you should see a physician as soon as possible.
